KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE [2017-2012] - Z-ring chain

This 525 HPE (High Performance Endurance) series chain sets new standards in low maintenance by eliminating the need for regular relubrication, typically required every 1,000 km.

Extensive tests in the laboratory and on the road have proven that the service life of the HPE chain is at least as long, if not longer, than that of a conventional, regularly lubricated Z-ring chain. A special feature of this chain is the coating with tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), one of the most advanced coatings from the group of DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the bushings and rollers and reduces energy losses while increasing efficiency in the secondary drive.

The very high hardness of the coated surface combined with a low coefficient of friction results in improved performance. Additionally, eliminating the need for chain cleaning and lubricant splash during operation minimizes environmental impact. This technological innovation was made possible through intensive research and development work by Regina engineers in Italy.
