KAWASAKI Z 1000 [2020-2021] - Z-ring chain

The Regina 525 HPE Z-ring chain with rivet closure sets new standards in motorcycle technology. This high-performance chain does not require regular relubrication, which makes it particularly low-maintenance. Motorcyclists benefit from significant time and cost savings as the usual lubrication every 1,000 km is no longer necessary.

Extensive tests in the laboratory and on the road have proven that the service life of the HPE chain is at least as long, if not longer, than that of a conventional, regularly lubricated Z-ring chain. Another highlight is the innovative coating made of tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), one of the most advanced coatings from the group of DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the chain's bushings and rollers and ensures a reduction in energy losses and an increase in efficiency in the secondary drive.

The very high hardness of the coated surface combined with a low coefficient of friction leads to optimized performance. Additionally, eliminating the need for chain cleaning and lubricant spraying during operation helps minimize environmental impact. The development of this innovative coating process was carried out through intensive research and development work by Regina engineers in Italy.
